duvet cover = cheaper in the long run
Duvetcovers. they usually have better designs. but if you find a comforter that you reallly like! go for it!
A duvet just a cover for a comforter.
I prefer duvets – they’re thinner and hang over the edges farther. Comforters usually come in those convenient “bed in a bag” sets where everything matches. But if you ever have extra sheets, you have to match sure they match/coordinate with the comforter since the comforter will rarely go all the way to the floor.
A duvet cover goes over a comforter or can be used alone as a very light coverlet. The benefit is that you can (usually) wash a duvet cover but (generally) a comforter must be dry-cleaned.
It all depends on your situation. For example, if you have messy children who like to run around in everything, you may want to invest in a duvet because this can be taken off and washed.
If you are by yourself, go for a comforter. Deffinatly more in style but harder and more expensive to clean.
