Can you use a comforter inside of a duvet cover or do you have to buy an actual duvet?

For Christmas I’m going to ask for a duvet cover but I know they’ll only spend so much so I won’t be able to get the duvet too. It’s a queen-sized duvet cover and I’ve got a queen-sized comforter. The comforter is like a really light, solid color so I don’t think it would be visible under the duvet.

Would it work?

Which is the best to buy a comforter or a duvet cover and why?

what is more instyle?

How do you choose a down comforter?

I bought a queen size down comforter from Ikea when I was in Germany 5 years ago, which I love! Now, I need to buy a King size one. I don’t remember anything about the one I have, like the thread count, weight, or whatever it is you choose by. I love that mine is very soft, but also kind of heavy. What should I look for as far as specs when I’m shopping for one? I’m going to put it in a duvet cover, so color doesn’t matter. Any good stores/good prices?
I don’t want to spend too much. Then again, I know that they’re worth the money, and I’ll probably use it forever. I still use my old one, even though it’s not on my bed, for lounging around the house.

which one is better – a down comforter or a duvet?

i asked question sometime back and found out some things from u guys and research now i wnat to know some more

1) out here its pretty cold so i want to buy something that maintains a good temperature without getting hot.
2) i don’ t want to sweat and so i dont want it to smell either .
3) it should be light enough and kind of hug my body softly.
4)i think that hotel one was cotton.. so i want to buy a cotton

now what should i buy?? duvet or a down comforter?
and where can i buy (shop) not online?

What is the difference between a duvet and a comforter?

I know this is a dumb question, and I think I know the answer, but I am shopping for new bedding, and on every website I go to, the duvets look the same as the comforters in the picture. Duvets are actually just covers, and comforters are when the patterned fabric is actually stuffed, Right?

Should I buy a comforter or a duvet cover for college?

I am dorm shopping right now because in the fall I am going to be a freshman at college. It’s the first time I’ve ever really been able to go all out with decorating so I want to make sure my bed set is really nice and colorful. I’ve been looking at places like Bed Bath and Beyond and Target for bedding ideas and it seems that the two options are comforters or duvet covers but I don’t know which one is better.

It seems that there are more options for comforters, but how do you wash them? Duvet covers have less options, but I understand that you just take the cover off and stick it in the washer and dryer like you would a sheet.

Do comforters make sense for college and if so, how do I wash them?

Example of a comforter I’m looking at:

Thanks so much!

Can I buy a Duvet cover that is 86X86 for a down comforter that is 90X90?

I cant find a duvet cover that fits my comforter, they are either too big or too small. I thought if I bought one slightly smaller one i can stuff it in and it will be fluffy.

remove odor from velvet comforter / quilt?

I just bought a beautiful quilt at an estate sale, one side is velvet and the other is patchwork in velvets and other misc fabrics. The down side is that there’s a odor to it…could be cigarette, could be dog, could be basement air…but it’s stale whatever it is….$50+ for dry cleaning…ouch! Any suggestion for an at home remedy? I don’t have a steamer, the bed covering is bigger than my bathroom (lol), too leary of popping it in a large size washer, can’t afford dry cleaning (paid $70 for the piece and already off my budget)….stain free, but a bit stinky….how to deoderaize?????

cute vintage/nature-like comforter???

I’ve been having some trouble finding a bright yellow comforter close to Vera Wang’s poppy set, and have finally resorted to looking around some alternatives.
My bedroom’s theme is that sort of vintage-but-modern style with the different colored birds, fat owls, and trees painted on part of my walls… The main color of my walls is a light aqua, and most of the designs are yellow with some red accents.

Since I can’t find a yellow comforter, I started looking for white, aqua, or brown ones with the same vintage flair (like maybe a graphic desgn of birds or a tree), but I’m still having trouble and if anyone knows of some good places or websites I’d be very grateful!
(I need either a comforter or duvet cover. Bedspreads are too light… Minnesota’s not that warm, you know!)

While I’m away at college, my room’s a guest room that does get used quite a bit, so it is important that the comforter doesn’t remain a mismatched pink!
Bright yellow is still my first choice, though….
the reason I can’t get the Vera Wang set is because my bed’s a twin, and that narrows it down a lot. ) =
