Are duvet covers really that awful?

I’m shopping for new bedding for my dorm and so far, everything I’ve liked has come in the form of a duvet cover. I’ve always used comforters but everyone I know that has had experience with duvet covers says they are AWFUL. I know I could keep shopping until I find a cute comforter but I wanted to ask, are duvet covers as terrible as everyone makes them out to be? So far, I’ve heard they are impossible to deal with and that comforters always bunch up inside of them really badly, with practically every single use.

There is noting wrong with mine. I like the fact that you can wash a duvet cover, and change the style up.

I have never had a duvet bunch up, become AWFUL, or impossible to deal with.

If you are in collage, you might need something you can wash often and easy.

Who said duvet covers were bad? If you want a comforter, but are settling for a duvet, you can make a few stitches through both to sort of quilt them together. I personally HATE comforters. I bought a faux down (comforter, but not like the others) and a soft flannel duvet cover. I love how it feels-so fluffy and like a huge pillow. It doesn’t move that much and it’s so much easier to clean. Plus, if you decide to redecorate, you just buy the outside, not a new comforter.

I love mine I got it from potterybarn. I used to use comforters and I like big down ones and I hated when it came to washing them. the duvet covers are so much easier to take care of

I have a down comforter that I’ve used with duvet covers for years and never had any problems with them. If you do have problems with it shifting, you can always sew small snaps to the corners of the comforter, and the other part of the snaps to the inside corners of the duvet. That should keep the comforter in place and it will be easy to remove so the duvet can be washed. or changed out.
I think duvets are more economical as they are more easily washed, and you can change out your bedding without spending hundreds of dollars on comforters.
